FAL Ready for iPhone and iPad
Need a hand?
Email me — support@huntfix.app — and I will get back to you as soon as I can. FAL Ready is made by one person with a day job, so give it a couple of days before you decide the message went astray.
Think a question is wrong?
Tell me. I'd much rather hear about it. Send:
- The question, as it appears in the app, and the answer it gave as correct.
- The answer you think is right, and where you read it — the Firearms Safety Code, the Arms Act 2026, the Arms Regulations 2026 or one of FSE's pages, with a page or section number if you have one.
If something is not working
The more you can tell me, the quicker I can find it:
- What you were doing, what happened, and what you expected instead.
- Your iPhone or iPad model and its software version — Settings → General → About.
- A screenshot, if there was something on screen worth seeing.
Things people ask
Where do I get it? On the App Store, in New Zealand, for iPhone and iPad. There's no Android or web version.
Is FAL Ready official? No. It's an independent study aid, not made or endorsed by Firearms Safety and Education New Zealand (FSE), New Zealand Police or the Mountain Safety Council. Scott is a former Mountain Safety Council instructor.
Does it replace the course? No. You still sit FSE's firearms safety course and its tests. FAL Ready is practice; FSE's free e-learning is where you learn it, and every recap links there.
I have a new phone, or I reinstalled the app. Tap Restore purchase, in Settings or on the unlock screen, signed in to the Apple Account that bought it. Your progress comes back from your iCloud if the backup was on and the phone uses the same Apple Account.
Can my family use the unlock? Yes. Family Sharing is on, so one unlock covers your Apple family group.
I have a code from my school or club. Use Redeem a code on the unlock screen (Settings → Unlock everything). It needs iOS 18.4 or later, a free update.
We're a school, club or New Zealand Deerstalkers' Association (NZDA) branch. Ask about codes that give your learners 50% off: support@huntfix.app.
Refunds. Refunds are Apple's to give, at reportaproblem.apple.com. If you'd tell me why, I'd like to know: support@huntfix.app.
Can I use it on my iPhone and my iPad? Yes. With the iCloud backup on and the same Apple Account on both, your progress follows you between them. The unlock covers both.
A reminder didn't arrive. Reminders are only the ones you turned on in the licence journey. Check that notifications are allowed for FAL Ready in the Settings app → Notifications, and that the date in the journey is right. They're a help, not a guarantee — keep the real deadline in mind too.
Can I say the seven rules out loud? Yes. In the recital, tap the microphone on your keyboard. That's iOS's own dictation; FAL Ready never asks for the microphone and only sees the text.
How do I delete my progress? Settings → Delete everything. It removes every answer, mock and recital, and everything in the licence journey, from your device, and from your iCloud if the backup is on. It can't be undone, and it keeps your settings and the unlock. More on the privacy page.
